I was incredibly thirsty, so my first priority was fresh-squeezed orange juice.
I cooked up some "Migas Verdes". I scrambled a few eggs, crumbled tortilla chips, and verde salsa in the skillet, then chopped up a few green onions and sprinkled some cheese on top. I added more chips and salsa around the perimeter of the bowl.
I had a couple bites of this before I made myself a bowl of cereal: Special K with a sliced banana, peanut butter, and ground flaxseed.
After breakfast, my body was ready for some rest! Naptime!
We made a quick trip to the store to buy some charcoal before lunch. Austin fired up the grill for steaks.
He also grilled some corn on the cob.
We had sweet potatoes and mushrooms on the side.
We ate outside on the patio so we could watch the rain.
Dozie was very curious about what we were eating for lunch.
Of course, he had to balance the t-bone on his head before he got to eat it.
But it was definitely worth his effort.
For dessert, we tried a VitaBrownie. It was very chocolatey and delicious. I added the pecans myself because I prefer to have a "crunch" with my brownies.
If only I had a bowl of ice cream to go with it, this would've been perfect.
I've also tried the Vitatops. These 100 calorie "muffin tops" are great for an easy snack. Just pop it in the microwave for a few seconds, and it's ready to eat! I love the nutritional facts behind them, too.
We made a short shopping trip to the outlet mall, then came back home to watch a movie.
We watched Earth. It was an inseresting educational film about the earth and the creatures who live here. There were lots of baby animals in the movie! My favorite scene was when the Mandarin ducklings were jumping out of their nest for the first time - they were fearless about free-falling to the ground below. Fortunately, their crash-landings were cushioned by the piles of leaves beneath their nest in the tree.
The rest of the rainy evening was spent reading, doing laundry, and baking homemade raisin bread. I'm planning on using the bread to make french toast in the morning.
What is your favorite rainy-day activity?
I like to listen to the rain while curled up reading a romance novel.
Congrats on your new distance! That's great. I love how fast you see improvements with running. It really motivates you to keep going and gives you a rush, or at least for me it does.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite rainy day activity is reading or writing. I hate the rain, so I only go outside in it if I have to. And I actually appreciate the excuse for quiet time inside, because I love reading.
That picture of Dozie is freakin funny! It looks like the bone is almost as big as he is!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your run!! Sounds like a perfect meal, too. I love Vitatops, haven't tried the brownies yet. But a chocolate Vitatop with a little peanut butter on top... mmmm. :)
